THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INDEPENDENT WEDDING PLANNER AND AN ON-SITE VENUE COORDINATOR

After conducting much research, going to many on-site visits and trying to match your vision to location, you have finally chosen a wedding venue! This is great news! Many venues now are full-service, meaning they can contribute many other aspects to your wedding other than just providing the event space such as on-site catering, DJ services and even on-site coordinators. You might ask yourself what is the difference between an on-site coordinator and an independent wedding planner and do I need both? These two individuals often work closely together and can many times, do the same job.

However, an on-site coordinator is often limited to their responsibilities and abilities to complete certain tasks. Their ultimate responsibility is to the venue itself. An on-site coordinator can handle many tasks such as giving vendor referrals, décor set-up and making sure the venue is adequately staffed for your event. But an independent wedding planner can take on much more responsibilities! Your planner's sole responsibility is to make sure the entire event flows smoothly from start to finish; working with every vendor hired to make sure everyone is where they need to be at the right time. An independent wedding planner even works with you before the big day by helping design the event, creating a budget and timeline and much more!

In other words, don't underestimate the value of investing in an independent wedding planner for day-of coordination, even if your chosen venue has an on-site coordinator!
